business branch out 3 Years, 10 Months ago Karma: 0
My brother-in-law and I are branching out our family business. Do you we still need DTI permit/registration? barangay permit? manila business permit?
and others?

Sabi kasi niya hindi na kelangan mga yan since magbranch out naman pero i think na kelangan talaga yan. Sa 18 na kami magbubukas.

Need advice here. Pareho kami novice starting a business.

Thanks in advance.

I think those documents/licenses are still needed for your next branch

Hello,

Are you a corporate entity or a Single Proprietorship business?

Each branch is almost like starting a new business. You will need a new DTI registration that indicates that it is a branch, a registbration with the local Revenue District of the BIR (you get to keep your TIN but you need to register), and a Mayor's Permit. The Mayor's Permit will usually require both your TIN and the DTI Registration, plus the usual checklist of Barangay Clearances, Sanitation, Fire, etc. The BIR Registration will usually require your Mayor's Permit and DTI. In short, you need to:

Register with DTI ---> Get Mayor's Permit ---> Get BIR Registration

I hope this helps.

Cheers!

Hi sir Gerell,

Our business is a single proprietor. That is what i told him but he won't believe to what i say.

anyway, i thought we're going to open last july 18 but his wifey decided to look for other commercial space. We finally found one today. We are set to open in 2 weeks.

how long will it take us to get the DTI registration, local revenue district paper, and mayors permit?

idiot question: can we operate without those permit for the mean time ? tatakbo na kasi ung rental fee... sorry for that question he insist that we use the main branch DTI (I know its a No, No)

btw if you don't mind sir? i am going to print this and show it to him and to my mom thanks.

Hello pip,

Sorry for the late reply. If you have any questions that needs to be addressed early, post it at the FoodBytes Forum! (http://www.foodbytesforum.com) since we regularly check on it.

DTI registration is usually over after a day. BIR registration takes less than a week. It is usually the LGU registration that takes quite long. If you did your due diligence in filing, some LGUs will allow you to operate without the complete permits since it is the delay on their end that is at fault.

On your next query, even SOHO businesses will have to get the proper permits so you can give an OR to your clients. There are some income reporting technicalities that needs to be addressed with the BIR. As of now, BIR is still quite lax with web-based businesses, so if you want to start, now is the time to do it.

Cheers!

Gerel
