I'd been in the internet shop business for 6 years now, I currently own 21 internet shops in Bulacan, and I would definitely not recommend an internet shop/cafe business.

Over the last 3 years, internet shops/cafes opened like mushrooms, the sales are decreasing, price per hour are the same for the last 3 years (15 pesos per hour in Bulacan), but all of the overhead expenses were almost doubled. You cannot increase price to cover the correspoding increase in overhead expenses because of competition.

A 1 million peso investment in an internet shop with 30 computers will only give you a net of around 10,000 to 15,000 each month. It will take you at least 10 full years before you can recoup your investment. It was another story about 4-6 years ago where a 1 million worth of internet cafe will give you about 80 thousand pesos net each month. Nowadays, it will be a nightmare.

Right now, stocks are down at least 40%. I'd rather invest my money in a high risk investment like stocks than opening an internet cafe. Opening an internet shop/cafe is a sure way to lose money.

Ask an internet cafe/shop owner in your place and they will say the same thing. No offense meant to the thread starter, people should know the real score.

Thank you for sharing. Sorry, but our P93K package (with 5 units and licensed OS) can give you a decent P500.00 per day income. If you double it, it will give you 1k or 30k gross per month. Many I-Cafes are getting a hard time in recovering their investments because of their "Over-kill" specs. Some are using expensive dual core processors, etc. but we consider it OVER-KILL. That's why www.icafebusiness.com is here to help you avoid the usual start-up mistakes by wannabe entrepreneurs.

This is still one of the best business in town as the Philippines is still behind in terms of Internet users and access.

Competition? It's good. This is your opportunity to shine. God bless.

My best advice is on how to get an idea if an internet shop business is really earning is to ask internet shop business owners in your place and do your own research before starting the business, read forums of internet shop owners, or search on adpost or any online ads about FOR SALE INTERNET SHOPS. You will be amazed how many internet shops are for sale. It is obvious that they are not making money.

It will be pointless to hear an advice from salespeople who sells computers because all they will tell you is internet shops are doing great so you should start your own. Anybody that is telling that internet shop business is a good business is misinformation.

Since you are not recommending other interested individuals to engage in internet shop/cafe business, are you now getting out from it?

Are you selling all your internet cafes, if not why so?
